Sex.com is being brokered by sedo
Jul 25th
So sex.com, possibly the worlds most valuable piece of real estate is up for grabs again. I wonder who might have deep enough pockets for it and what uses they might have for it. The traffic from pre pubescent children is probably enough to generate a few thounds in revenue every day. But can the domain survive the turbulence in the technology sector? Will the traffic survive?
New ideas coming through for socialnetwork.co.uk
Jul 22nd
I’m busy trying to come up with some new ideas for this premium domain. I have had a few years and had plenty of offers, but I’m keen to develop so new ideas.
Looking back on domain names
Jul 22nd
I often wonder what we will say when we look back upon the era of the domain. Will we say “I was a domainer”. Will people know what domains are in the future? Will they be consigned to history as our way of interacting with the internet changes.
The internet was open, but it would seem there is a huge drive towards closing up the internet. In fact I’m typing this now on an android phone application. I never once typed in the web address into a url bar. There was no need.
One thing for sure, our use of domains is changing. I’d love to predict the future…but I guess ill have to see how it pans out.

Facebook looks stronger than ever.
Jul 18th
Its seems FB has one in the competiton for the socialnetwork space. Am I getting ahead of myself here? Perhaps, but with DST ventures putting in 800M dollars for a 10% stage the valuation is staggering. Does this mean its all over for the other socialnetworks?
Bebo is in decline and has been sold to a private firm for a fraction of its last sale price. Its finished it would seem and its unlikley to make back lost ground in critical mass. So where can it go apart from the wall? Well that is anyone’s guess.
Are we headed towards a single social network? Well er no, because there is always interest in this area like the diaspora idea, to give the indiviudal back their privacy which has hurt facebook in recent months.

Spreadtrader.co.uk interest
Jul 18th
Had many expressions of interest but no sale as yet. It seems the whole spread betting market has really taken off and with it an explosion of sites offering advice and trading.

Its been a long time

I’m currently sat in a Marina looking at expensive boats. Not that I’ll be buying one right now but it has got me thinking about how these rich guys get to afford such expensive toys. And here is the answer…
They built businesses..they built sustainable businesses and brands on the whole. Of course there are salaried employees too. So how many of these people made their money from online business or online brands? Well I cannot know for sure but I’m betting not many. Its still too early for many mature businesses to have fed into the system or it could be that boating is not for everyone in this region.
Well I’m saving for my toys…after all he who dies with the most toys wins. One day I shall be able to convert my immature but maturing investments into mature investments.
